Adventuring Tip #3: more info on the event, stats, and player glossary system will be added post-enroll!
OVERVIEW.
HOW EVENTS WORK...

EVENTS ARE
OPTIONAL
Interacting with the events is more or less optional and activity requirements are lax, however inactive/absent members will be pruned as needed, of course.
Most of the fun stuff happening in the group will probably center around events and playing together with the community. The main theme of Book of Magic is found family and relationships forged on the roads to grand adventures. Therefore, you’ll probably get the most enjoyment out of BoM by participating in events, cultivating interest in other members’ characters, and weaving your storylines together with others. It is my wish that Book of Magic can be a fun roleplaying hobby experience as well as a warm community where you can come to hang out and enjoy the company of good friends.
If you want to join the group, I don’t ask that you commit to spending tons of time on it nor that you create lots of content or contributions - I ask only that you join us with the mood of eagerness and excitement for meeting new people, making new friends, and having enthusiasm for the creativity of your fellow members.
Not all participation needs to be conducted in public to count, and public event rps aren't the only format of earning perks for participating. Just be open to vibing and playing with your fellow members, receiving DMs from time to time, and having a good time by genuinely enjoying the things other people are passionate about as well as the stuff you are! All of that aside, the following is a zoomed-out view of how this all works.

LEVELS & RANKS.
AMASS POWER AND PRIVILEGE!
In Book of Magic, groupwide events will be called CHAPTERS. They'll typically last at least a month or two, and feature a number of QUESTS and MISSIONS. Quests can be completed however you want, while Missions will typically be held as public event roleplays. This is not a hard and fast rule, however, and sometimes we will have events for Quests as well as or instead of Missions.
Event currency and the shop system is mostly just for IC flavor and add-ons, and is not a priority of the group.
NOTICE: Please be aware that if you’d like to use the event currency and item system, you’ll need to keep track of your earnings and inventory yourself as the mods will not be!

In Book of Magic, character ability and privilege progression is tracked via the LEVEL UP system. Every character new to the group starts out at a base LEVEL 0, and works their way up from there based on how many events they've been used in. For every event that character earns participation credits for, they will gain 1 LEVEL.
Currently, the maximum possible level for a player character is LEVEL 5, meaning participation in 5 group events would max out your character's 'ability tree'. I've chosen 5 for now, but this may be subject to change after the 6-month Prologue period is finished, just in case the group needs rebalancing! The higher Level your character is, the more bonuses they get in events and the more abilities they'll be allowed to have.
On the other hand, privileges for groupmembers are tracked by the RANK UP system. The Rank Up system grants you abilities to do more things over time, meaning essentially that the longer you're in the group, the more fun stuff you'll be able to do. Examples of rewards granted by Rank Ups include making more characters, unlocking new types of characters to create, or earning perks to use during Chapters.
