aethyreal
The race of people inhabiting Jewelia, born from the natural magic that flows from Alterra. Aethyreal are a long-lived elven race who are born attuned to nature, each deriving from one of seven natural elements. They appear mostly similar to the other four races, however it is more common for them to have long, pointed ears, taller than average heights, differently colored and styled hair and other characteristics. Second only to Eidolon, Aethyreal live extensively long lifespans, usually up to ages of about 300 years. Like the other races, it typically takes about 20 years for an Aethyreal to reach physical maturity, and following that they will age subtly over time. Aethyreal colloquially refer to themselves as an “elven” race, due to their innate connection to the mana flowing throughout Alterra.
With their long lifespans and adept skill in magic, Aethyreal are often known to become successful adventurers. Each subrace of Aethyreal tends to live their childhood and adolescence in their home region within Jewelia, and many more still stay isolated away from the other races. While there are many Aethyreal who enjoy spending their long years adventuring and discovering the world, many Aethyreal back home prefer not to associate themselves with the other races, whether from not wanting to form attachments to their short-lived counterparts or due to the common cultural “superiority” they tend to feel over others.
Each Aethyreal subrace has a specific difference in appearance from the other subraces, and draws their magic power from the element they are born with. Each Aethyreal is born as only one subtype, regardless of whether their parents were two different types.

Each Aethyreal is born under a certain element, and each gains a specific passive ability based on their element.
Every Aethyreal’s attunement must be connected in some way to their element.
Each element also implies a number of tertiary elements related to them (for example, water can be interpreted as ice, mist, fog, etc.)
☆ faerie
Faeries are born under the element of light. They are usually distinct by their colorful, bright appearances and luminescent skin markings. They are quite commonly tan-skinned, due to their long days in the sunlight. Their element allows them to call light to their hands at will. Their magic is more powerful during the daytime. They typically live within the great treetops found on Jewelia, or otherwise in enchanted cities floating above the clouds. Sometimes, they may also come from the sunny beaches borderlining Undine territory.
fleura ☆
Fleura are born under the element of flora. Fleura may be born with the characteristics of a certain type or species of plant. They typically live in wooded towns and cities built through powerful grove magic, sometimes close to the treetop civilizations of the Faeries. Sometimes, they are also called ‘wood elf’ descendants. Their element allows them to exchange communication with plants. Rumors about them usually tell that they smell uncommonly good, like perfumes and flowers. They are excellent hunters.
☆ nymph
Nymphs are born under the element of earth. All manner of rock, gems, and soil are connected to their element. Nymphs are known as particularly capable blacksmiths, and sometimes born with the characteristics of certain minerals or jewels. Many of their settlements are built within large network systems inside of mountains. Their element allows them to manipulate a small amount of earth. Sometimes, Nymphs with a particular affinity for craftsmanship, engineering, and metalworking are colloquially termed ‘dwarves’, though they appear roughly similar to other Aethyreal subraces.
pooka ☆
Pooka are born under the element of dark. Pooka are typically distinct by their pale complexions, but it is not uncommon for them to have skin of any color, including deep purples and blues. At night, their eyes begin to glow, which grants them innate nightvision. Their home settlements are deep within the canopy of Jewelia, where the many layers of mana-imbued tree branches block out all sunlight. Sometimes, they also share home territories with underground dwellings of Nymphs.
☆ pyra
Pyra are born under the element of fire. Pyra are usually noticeable by their red, orange, or yellow features such as eyes and hair. They are particularly proud of wearing their home region’s color, red. Their element allows them to manipulate a small amount of fire, as well as conjure it at will. Pyra typically make their home near the base of the great volcano found on the Jewelian archipelago, as well as along beachside territories of Faeries. Pyra are usually the least-liked among the other subraces, particularly by the Undines. They get along best with Nymphs, and share in a reputation of renown for blacksmithery.
sylph ☆
Sylphs are born under the element of air. Sylphs quite commonly have fairylike wings, lithe physiques, and are typically born with the innate ability of flight. They are able to manipulate a small amount of wind as a result of their elemental connection, and usually make very poor swimmers. Sylphs tend to hail from high mountaintops, spires, and tower-cities, as well as enchanted cities located above the cloud line. Rumors of their gossamer wings have won them a reputation for being uncommonly beautiful.
☆ undine
Undines are born under the element of water. They are able to assume a half-amphibious or aquatic form, and are known to be the basis of many Earth myths surrounding mermaids and sirens. Due to their elemental connection, they are able to manipulate a small amount of water to allow themselves the freedom of underwater breathing and some minor aquamancy. Some tales tell of their ability to share waterbreathing temporarily through a kiss. Their homes are located chiefly underwater, in large cities built into the sea floor or along subaquatic shelfs. More rarely, they may also live on beaches alongside the Faeries, but tend not to get along well with Pyra.
